STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Tigers didn't lose any ground but they couldn't make any up either as they finished in 13th place at the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State.

"There were positives," said Tiger coach Brian Yaniger, "just not enough of them."

It was a disappointing showing for the Tigers after winning this tournament in 2004 and finishing runner up in 2010 and 2011.

The Tigers couldn't shake off their 13th place in the field of 14 teams, finishing in that spot after each of the three rounds in the 54-hole event.

Bowling Green took top team honors, holding off second place Indiana of Pennsylvania by seven strokes. Penn State finished fifth.

Freshman DJ Honan may have celebrated his coming out party, though. Honan paced Towson with a 237 (73-86-78). Despite rock hard greens and windy conditions he finished with a 78 on Sunday, a score that included five birdies, to tie for 49th. He was the only Towson player to post more than one round in the 70's.

Senior Justin Koehler also had a strong finish, closing with a 77 for a 242 (83-82-77) that tied him for 61st. Sophomore Matt Fry had all 81's on his cards for a 243 and a 65th place finish. Junior Ken Jee placed 72nd (247) and sophomore Joe Gunerman was 74th in the field of 78 golfers.

Towson has one regular season event remaining, the Longwood Invitational April 13-14, before heading to the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at the end of the month.
