Tigers Face VCU in CAA Tournament

TOWSON, Md. - The Tigers begin their run at the Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Title on Friday, Nov. 19 in the tournament's first round. The No. 3 Tigers (23-8) will face the sixth seed, Virginia Commonwealth (15-15) in Newark, Del. at 4 p.m.

The Tigers will be making their sixth appearance in the CAA Tournament since joining the league and first since 2008. Friday's other first round match-up will feature No. 4 Georgia State against fifth seeded James Madison at 7 p.m.

The Tigers have won three straight matches and seven of their last eight entering Friday's action. Sophomore Katy Buck leads the team with 440 kills and 261 digs while junior Aubrey Kirven has contributed 1,154 assists and 222 digs. Freshman Paige Sekerak leads the squad with 480 digs while senior Susan Gansor has 127 blocks.

VCU has won four straight matches entering the tournament and captured the only meeting between the Tigers and Rams earlier this season. Kristin Boyd leads the squad with 384 kills while Courtney Hott has contributed 216 kills and 132 blocks. Cecilia Aragao has 1,003 assists while Amanda Friday has posted 300 digs.

The winner of Friday's contest will advance to face No. 2 Northeastern in Newark on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. The other semi-final will feature No. 1 Delaware against the winner of the Georgia State/James Madison match.
