TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University men's and women's swimming and diving teams have garnered Scholar All-America team recognition from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for the spring term of 2012, the organization announced.

The women's team compiled a team grade point average of 3.52, tying for 10th in the nation with three other schools. It is the first time in the history of the women's program the team is in the top 10 nationally.

"I could not be prouder of our women for having earned this recognition," Towson coach Pat Mead said. "We have a great group of women returning this fall and I am confident our incoming women will do just as well."

Sophomore Dana Rzewnicki posted a perfect 4.0 G.P.A, while Caroline Woody added a 3.93 and Taylor Paskoff recorded a 3.89 G.P.A.

The men's team finished with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.09 to earn the prestigious award. Sophomore Jordan Lingo had a 3.91, while classmate Matt Collingwood posted a 3.41 G.P.A.

"Our men did an outstanding job in the classroom this past spring," Mead said. "It is a great accomplishment for them to be to be recognized by the CSCAA again. Our men are showing they can be successful in the pool and in the classroom."
