SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Led by an eighth place finish in the 800-meter freestyle, Meredith Budner competed in four events at the Santa Clara Grand Prix at the George F. Haines International Swim Center.
Budner, who helped the Tiger women's swimming and diving team win its fourth straight Colonial Athletic Association title in February, finished eighth out of 54 competitors in the event with a time of 8:44.84, capping off a successful weekend.
After finishing sixth in the 'B' final of the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:14.87, Budner earned third place in the 'C' final of the 200-meter freestyle by completing the event in 2 minutes, 2.01 seconds.
Before competing in the 800-meter freestyle, Budner also had a second place finish in the 'C' final of the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:17.80.
Budner is slated to compete in three other events during the summer. She will participate in the North Baltimore Aquatic Club Mid-Summer Classic from July 8-11 before competing at the Israeli Nationals during the first week of August. She will complete her schedule at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China, which takes place from August 14-19.
