FAIRFAX, Va. - Senior diver Jeanne Ball placed third in the women's three-meter dive final and the Tigers placed two more divers into the finals to help Towson post a strong opening day at the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships.

Ball, a three-time winner of the CAA Women's Diver of the Week award this season, scored 290.85 points to finish behind only Kim Helfrich and Nicole Jotso, both of James Madison.

Freshman Lyndsey Dickson  and senior Lauren Ray also qualified for the finals of the event and posted fifth and sixth place finishes, respectively, for the Tigers. Dickson scored 285.65 points, while Ray tallied a score of 260.85.

"I'm thrilled with today," Diving Coach Maureen Mead said. "Hands down, that final was the toughest group of girls I've seen in 14 years. It was a dive-for-dive battle and I'm so proud of our girls."

In the consolation round, senior Caroline Baker finished in first place for the Tigers, while Gabi Lepore finished in 15th place.
