RICHMOND, Va. - Towson University junior forward Jerrelle Benimon was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday.
Benimon averaged 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds over four games last week as the Tigers posted a 3-1 record at the 2012 Comfort Suites Invitational.
The junior forward scored a team-high 19
points in a win over Radford and posted back-to-back double-doubles against Eastern Kentucky (12 pts/16 reb) and Kennesaw State (18 pts/13 reb).
He also contributed 11 assists and six blocked shots while shooting
63.3 percent from the floor.
Benimon shared the award with Hofstra's Shaquille Stokes, who averaged 15.3 points and five assists on the week.
The Tigers are off to a 3-2 start to the 2012-13 season, their best record after five games since 2008.
Benimon and the Tigers will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 26 at Loyola. The game, which is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m., can be heard live on WBAL-AM 1090.
