TOWSON, Md. - Although the 2012-13 Towson men's basketball season is still in the early stages, it's never to early too look at the statistics. Off to their best start since 2008, the Tigers have improved in nearly every statistical category. Below are some of the highlights.

*Although starting four newcomers, Towson's offense has been clicking early this season. The Tiger offense, which ranked last in the country during the 2011-12 season (51.5 ppg), is currently ranked second in the CAA (70.0 ppg).

*Towson also ranks near the top of the league in a number of offensive categories: Field Goal Percentage (46.8 percent/2nd), Scoring Margin (+6.8/2nd), Three-Point Field Goal Percentage (36.1/2nd) and Three-Point Field Goals Per Game (6.0/3rd).

*Although the Tigers were solid on the boards last year, they've gotten even better so far this season. Towson leads the CAA with a +11.6 rebounding margin per game. The Tigers rank second in the league in defensive rebounding percentage (71.7 percent) and first in offensive rebounding percentage (43.8 percent).

*Defensively, the Tigers are second in the CAA in blocked shots (5.2 per game) and third in steals (7.4 per game).

*Towson is allowing 6.5 points per game less than a year ago. The 63.2 points per game the Tigers are allowing this season is fourth best in the CAA. The team also ranks fourth in the league by holding opponents to 39.7 percent shooting.
