TOWSON, Md. - Following a buzzer beater win over Loyola, the Tigers have risen to No. 19 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.
Green Bay, with a 12-0 record, sits at No. 1 in this week's poll. Delaware, Gonzaga, Florida Gulf Coast and Princeton round out the top five.
The Colonial Athletic Association is represented by four teams in this week's Mid-Major Poll as No. 8 James Madison and No. 15 Hofstra join the Tigers and Blue Hens in the rankings.
The Tigers have won six straight games and are off to one of the best starts in recent history. Towson is 6-0 at home to start the season for the first time under Coach Joe Mathews. The 10 wins in 12 games match the 1981-82 and 2006-07 squads for the best 12-game start to a season in program history.
Towson is led by senior guard Krystal Parnell, who is averaging a team-high 12.8 points per game. Sophomore forward Nyree Williams has pulled down double digit rebounds in eight of the first 12 games and is averaging 9.9 boards per game this season.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, Jan. 5 when they travel to Delaware for a 7 p.m. match-up between the two top teams in the CAA.
