TOWSON, Md. – With 59 career games played, Towson University women’s basketball junior Tanisha McTiller enters the 2012-13 season as the most experienced player on Coach Joe Mathews' roster.

The other seven returning letter winners were in their first full season of playing for the Tigers in 2011-12.

McTiller had a solid sophomore season and hopes to continue that play for the Tigers during the 2012-13 season.

The Chicago, Ill. native played in all 30 games for the Tigers during the 2011-12 season. She came off the bench in the first four games but then started the final 26 games of the year.

McTiller was the second leading scorer for the Tigers this past season, averaging 11.1 points per game. She led the team in scoring eight times during the year. She scored in double figures in 19 games, including a career-high 23 points in a victory over William & Mary.

McTiller also contributed 125 rebounds and led the team in rebounding twice. She was one of six Tigers to record over 100 rebounds on the season. McTiller captured a career-high nine rebounds in a win over Georgia State.

McTiller was able to provide the Tigers with a lift from behind the arc this past season. Prior to the game against James Madison on Dec. 4, she had never hit a three-pointer in her career. That game, she hit both of the triples she attempted. McTiller finished the season with 27 three-pointers, the most by any Tiger.

A dependable option at the foul line, McTiller finished the year shooting 71.9%, which ranked 12th in the Colonial Athletic Association. At one point mid-season had a streak of made free throws that reached 10 straight.

McTiller put her quick hands to work for the Tigers throughout the season. She led the squad with 48 steals and her 1.6 steals per game ranked among the top 15 in the CAA. McTiller had a career-high six steals in Towson’s game at the University of Connecticut in late November.

Mathews and the Tigers hope McTiller can contribute more of those numbers on the court in 2012-13 and lead the team to great heights.
