BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Kelly Robinson scored on a lay-up with 29 seconds left in overtime to lift Long Island-Brooklyn to a 65-63 victory against the Tiger women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers (4-2) were led by junior guard Tanisha McTiller's career-high 24 points.

The game was a back and forth contest that featured 12 ties between the two squads.

The Tigers and Blackbirds (2-3) traded baskets early in the first half as senior forward Michelle Peebles' lay-up at 12:23 gave the visitors a 12-9 lead. The Blackbirds responded by scoring 13 of the next 15 points in the game to take a 22-16 lead with 5:29 to go in the half. It was LIU-Brooklyn's largest lead of the game at that point. The two teams continued to trade baskets before back-to-back buckets from sophomore guard Ciara Webb tied the game at 24-24. The two sides entered the break with the score tied.

The Tigers opened the second half by scoring eight of the first 12 points to take a 32-28 lead with 13:29 to play. Peebles and McTiller each had four points during that stretch. After the Blackbirds tied the game at 32-32, the Tigers used a 16-6 run to take a 48-38 lead with 4:31 to go. That run by the visitors was highlighted by three-pointers from freshman guard Alliyah Berger and sophomore forward Camille Alberson. The Blackbirds used a pair of triples from Krystal Wells to take a 49-48 lead with 2:11 to go. The Tigers and Blackbirds continued to trade points as McTiller went 5-for-6 from the line down the stretch to give Towson a 55-53 lead with 18 seconds left. A lay-up from Robinson with nine seconds left tied the game at 55-55 and forced overtime.

The Blackbirds scored eight of the first 10 points in overtime to take a 63-57 lead with 2:32 to play. Peebles scored six straight points for the Tigers to tie the game 63-63 with 52 seconds left in the extra session. Robinson hit the lay-up with 29 seconds left and Webb's three-point attempt fell short to make it a 65-63 final.

Towson finished the game shooting 35.2% from the floor and 66.7% from the foul line. LIU-Brooklyn shot 41.5% from the field and 58.3% from the line. For the first time this season, the Tigers got rebounded as the Blackbirds held a 50-41 advantage on the boards.
