NEW ORLEANS, La. - Led by a pair of former Towson Tigers, the New Orleans Saints will host the National Football Conference championship game for the first time ever on Sunday evening when they host the Minnesota Vikings in the Superdome. The Saints, who crushed Arizona in the divisional playoffs last week, will be relying on former Tiger linebacker Joe Vitt, '79 and Tiger offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod, '07 as the Saints try to reach their first-ever Super Bowl.

The Saints' assistant head coach, Vitt has been working with a Saints' defensive unit that ranks near the top of the National Football League in turnovers generated. During the regular season, the Saints were second in the NFL with 37 turnovers generated. In their 45-14 win over the high-scoring Cardinals, the Saints forced two fumbles while holding Arizona to a pair of touchdowns. The Cardinals had scored 51 points in their first post-season game.

In his first season as a starting left tackle, Bushrod has helped the Saints to a memorable season. A starter in 15 of 17 games, he helped the Saints open the season with 13 consecutive wins and the NFC South championship. The Saints, who had the best record in the NFC, piled up 418 yards of offense against Arizona. Led by Bushrod, the Saints' offensive line did not allow a sack against Arizona.

As part of the Saints' offensive line, Bushrod has contributed to the most prolific offense in the National Football League. Led by quarterback Drew Brees, the Saints lead the NFL in scoring with a 31.9 average and they also topped the NFL with 403.8 yards of total offense.

The Saints will host the Vikings on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised on FOX.
