ATLANTA, Ga. - Georgia State placed three players in double figures en route to a 71-62 win over the Tigers on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play. Towson (8-8, 2-3 CAA) got a game-high 17 points from Haliena Snowden in the loss.

"Georgia State got its shots to fall in the first half and we just couldn't take advantage of our opportunities," said Coach Joe Mathews. "We still need to find a way to be consistent with our play."

Georgia State went on a 5-0 run to take a 10-5 lead with 16:22 to play in the half. The two teams continued to battle with a Katrina Wheeler bucket at 13:59 making it a 12-9 game. The two teams traded buckets for the next several minutes with the Panthers opening up a 22-12 lead on a Danyiell McKeller free throw with 9:25 to go. Georgia State's lead would fluctuate between six and 11 points over the next four minutes. Georgia State held a 33-22 lead with 5:27 to play in the half. The Tigers would score eight of the final 12 points in the half and went into the locker room trailing 37-30.

Towson would score eight of the first 13 points in the second half to cut it to a 43-37 game with 13:25 to play. The two teams would battle on both ends of the floor over next several minutes as the Tigers were unable to get closer than six points during that stretch. Crystal Johnson hit a layup with 1:35 remaining to give Georgia State a 59-48 lead. Towson would respond with an 10-6 run to make it a 65-60 game with 47 seconds to play. Georgia State would go 7-for-9 from the line in the final 40 seconds to seal the victory.

Snowden's 17 points were one shy of her career-high. She also added four rebounds and two assists. Shanae Baker-Brice finished with 14 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals. Wheeler just missed a "double-double" as she contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Kandace Davis grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds and added seven points.

McKeller led Georgia State with a game-high 26 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Jylisa Williams contributed 15 points while Crystal Johnson finished with 13 points and nine assists.

Towson returns home to host UNC Wilmington in a special 11:30 a.m. start on Thursday, January 21.
