BRONX, N.Y. - The Tigers closed out their 2009 cross country season with a third place showing in a field of 20 teams which competed in the 25th annual ECAC University Race held at Van Cortlandt Park with sophomore Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue's 9th place finish showing the way.
Marist College won the team title followed by Albany and Tigers. Towson was the top finisher among the four Colonial Athletic Association teams in the race.
Gilmartin-Dononhue clocked a personal record 18:22 for the 5K race, bettering her time by 20 seconds. It was the fastest 5K for any Towson runner this season.
Sophomore Liya Kasimova ran her best 5K of 2009 with an 18:49 to finish 19th. Junior Brandi Gervais was 35th in 19:11 to equal her top time of the fall while senior captain Megan DiGregorio posted her third fastest 5K in 19:15. Junior Lindsay Warfield was 42nd in 19:20 and sophomore Katie Ogden was 47th in 19:26.
Mansfield's Brenae Edwards won the individual title in a time of 17:25.
