Tigers End Regular Season With Win Over Johns Hopkins

TOWSON, Md. - Hoping to tie the school record for wins in a season, the Tiger women's swimming and diving team recorded first place finishes in nine individual events en route to a 158-95 non-conference victory over Johns Hopkins University at Burdick Pool on Friday afternoon.

The Tigers, who finish the regular season with a five-meet win streak, match last year's win total with their 13th victory of the season. Over the last two years, the Tigers have posted a 26-2 dual meet record.

Freshman Adrienne Phillips finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:30.05 while freshman Kelsey Rouse placed second with a time of 10:50.39. Sophomore Tana King won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.57) while sophomore Marianna Kogut finished in second place with a time of 1:57.42.

Freshman Amanda Skroupa led the Tigers in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.87 seconds while senior Emilie Hoeper followed with a second place time of 1:01.33.

Juniors Megen Donovan and Monica Wolgast finished in a tie for first place in the 100-yard breaststroke while senior Jordan Crosby won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.69 as the Tigers swept the top three spots in the event.

Senior Kathryne Chalikis led a Tiger sweep in the 50-yard freestyle with a first place time of 24.04 seconds while junior Erica Hall (24.13) and sophomore Cari Czarnecki (24.81) followed in second and third places, respectively.

Senior Robin Glaser helped the Tigers claim first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.61 seconds while King was second by completing the event in 53.23 seconds. Meanwhile, Hall led a Towson sweep in the 200-yard backstroke by winning the event in a time of 2:07.48.

Sophomore Jenny Nevin won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.36 while Wolgast followed in third place (2:29.30). Sophomore Maegan McLaughlin earned first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.58.

The Tiger swimmers will be idle until the last week of February when they compete at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. Meanwhile, the Tiger divers, who were idle on Friday, will compete at the Delaware Diving Meet on February 13.
