The spring sports season starts this week! As the lacrosse, baseball, softball and tennis teams get set to compete, I wanted to provide information to fans regarding parking on campus.
Because of the large volume of traffic and the tailgating tradition, the university will be charging to park in the Towson Center lots before home men’s lacrosse games. The fee is $5 per game. Because there are academic activities taking place on weeknights, the university will honor current university permits on those weekdays, and all fans will be charged on the weekend.
The university does offer a season parking pass for the nine home men’s lacrosse games for $40. Season passes will be available for sale in the lots on Saturday when the Tigers open the season against Loyola. Fans interested in season passes should inquire with the Auxiliary Business Office in the University Union.
On several dates, we are hosting women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse or softball games in the same general time as the men’s lacrosse game. For those dates, the $5 parking fee will apply to all guests, regardless of the sport they are attending. The balance of the women’s lacrosse games are not during paid parking times.
When attending other spring sports, fans should understand that a fee is charged for parking on campus on weekdays until 8p.m. and on Fridays until 3 p.m. There is no charge for parking on Saturday and Sunday.
For softball fans, a season pass can be purchased for $26 Those fans without a season pass attending weekday games will need to stop by a Pay Station to purchase parking before proceeding to the parking lots. For softball, the Pay Stations are located in Lots 13 and 21. Gameday parking can be purchased at $2 per hour from the pay station. There is a maximum daily charge of $6 in the Towson Center lots. Fans can park in any open Towson Center lots after purchasing visitor parking and displaying the pass.
For baseball fans, season passes are available for $21. For fans that prefer to purchase parking on a game-by-game basis, the Pay Stations in Lot 11 and in the Towsontowne Garage will provide permits. Both are a short walk from Schuerholz Park. Parking is $2 per hour, with a maximum of $12 on the core campus, which includes the Towsontowne Garage and Lot 11.
Fans attending weekday tennis matches or visiting campus for other reasons during the posted hours should purchase parking permits from the pay stations before leaving their vehicles.
We want the experience on the Towson campus to be great fun. By understanding that the university charges a fee to park for home men’s lacrosse games and on weekdays before 8 p.m., our fans will get their game experience off to a terrific start. Have fun – see you at the ball park or at the U!
