TOWSON, Md. - Head coach
Niki Reid Geckeler and the Towson University women's basketball team held their first practice of the 2015-16 season on Monday afternoon.
The practice was high intensity from the start. After a stretching session, the team immediately jumped into drills and worked on transition action up and down the court. The squad also did some drills with the team split in half and working on each half of the court.
Now in her third season Reid Geckeler welcomes back eight players who saw action last season and seven players that will don the black and gold for the first time this season. Leading the returners will be senior
Dominique Johnson and sophomore
Breonn Hughey. Johnson enters her senior season with a chance to join the 1,000 point club and set the school record for three-pointers made. Last year she averaged 13.2 points per game and became just the second player in school history with 70 or more three-pointers in a single-season. Hughey earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie team honors last season. Hughey's 133 assists last season ranked fifth in single-season history at Towson. Among the newcomers for the Tigers are freshmen
Sianni Martin and
AJ Timbers, who played for the number one high school team in the country, Neumann Gorretti last year.
