TOWSON, Md. –
Maia Lee, a 6-3 center from Old Dominion University, has transferred to Towson University and signed to play for the Tigers, Head Coach
Niki Reid Geckeler announced.
Lee played in 11 games as a freshman last season for Old Dominion.
Lee, a native of Falls Church, Virginia, played at McLean High School and led her team to a 20-6 mark as a senior while averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds per game. During her final campaign Lee was named to first team All-Liberty, first team All-Region, second team All-State and was a member of the Washington Post All-Metropolitan team.
As a senior, Lee was ranked as the 21st best high school girls' basketball player in the country at her position and the 90
th best overall player by ESPN Hoopgurlz. Lee played AAU for Team Takeover, a national powerhouse program, where she had a stand-out career.
Reid-Geckeler described the addition of Lee by saying, "We are thrilled to add Maia to the Towson Tigers family. It's always nice to get a local player back home and the impact Maia will have for us will be tremendous. At 6-3 her athleticism paired with her touch around the rim, her defensive presence and rebounding ability will prove to be a huge asset for the program. Maia is the type of student-athlete who will help us continue to build a strong brand of Tiger basketball."
Lee completes the incoming class for Reid-Geckeler which is comprised of
Sianni Martin,
AJ Timbers,
Brittany Tarr and
Alexis Johnson.
