Softball Adds Three To Program

TOWSON, Md. –Towson softball head coach Lisa Costello has announced the signing of three talented student-athletes for the 2018 class.

Kennedi Ambush (New Market, Md./Linganore), Melissa Abrahamian (San Diego, Ca./Del Notre) and Riley Thies (Laguna Hills, Ca./Laguna Hills) comprise the group.
 
"We are excited to add these three talented student-athletes to our program," said Costello. "I believe they will help us continue our tradition of excellence here. This is a very athletic class that excels in the classroom as well as on the field. We are happy to welcome them to the Towson family."  
 
A centerfielder, Ambush has led Linganore in batting average and on-base percentage in each year. She had a .380 batting average last season for Linganore. In addition, Ambush has helped her team to a pair of regional championships. As a freshman, Ambush helped Linganore reach the Class 3A state championship game. Among some of her individual accolades are being named a Frederick Post three-time first-team All-Area selection and a two-time All-Area by CMC. Ambush is planning to major in mass communications. She is also a three-sport athlete as she is a member of track and basketball teams.
 
A pitcher, Abrahamian enjoyed a strong junior season in which she had a 3.50 earned run average, a .963 fielding percentage and a .288 batting average. She also finished with 141 strikeouts. Abrahamian was selected to the San Diego Union Tribune's All-Academic Team. She is an AP student and a member of the principal's honor roll. She's a member of the Corona Angels club team.
 
An outfielder and catcher, Thies' sister Cali is a current member of the Towson softball team. Thies is a strong hitter as she has batted over .400 in two of her three years at Laguna Beach. As a junior, Thies was named a first-team all-league selection after compiling a .423 batting average. She hit .412 as a freshman. During her sophomore year, Thies hit .387 to earn first-team all-league recognition. Thies is also a member of the National Art Honor Society.
 
The Tigers' 2017 schedule will be released at a later date.
