TOWSON, Md. – A fresh crop of Towson women's soccer players will make their way to campus next fall as head coach
Greg Paynter announced eight high school seniors who signed National Letters of Intent on National Signing Day.
The eight signatures on Feb. 3 welcome in new Tigers from four different states, including five from New Jersey, one from Virginia, one Pennsylvania and one future player from western Maryland.
"We are impressed with our incoming class. Their high school and club pedigree will be a great fit for the progress of our program. Each of these players has the ability to impact our program as quickly as next fall. We have lost a lot of valuable experience with the departure of our seniors, and we will expect this class to step up immediately," said Paynter, who capped his ninth season guiding Towson. "Our staff,
Mike Eckberg and
Autumn Hayes, has worked hard at securing each of these commitments over the past couple of years. It is a credit to them for their persistence to bring the best possible players here to Towson University. This collection of student-athletes will excel in the classroom and on the field.
"We have a lot of holes to fill from our 2015 team. Not only will we look for the incoming freshmen to help out, we have some young, unproven players that will use this spring to be prepared for next August. We also get to add one of our 2015 class members to the fold this spring and fall,
Sam Lotti, who sat out this fall with an injury. Overall, we are excited about the addition of these eight newcomers, and their ability to improve our current group of players."
Below is a capsule of each incoming player for the fall 2016 season.
