TOWSON, Md. ā The Towson University track and field program set four school records to win the 2017 Towson Invitational on Saturday inside Johnny UnitasĀ® Stadium. The Tigers recorded 214 points to finish first in the 16-team field. Delaware followed in second (187.50) while Weaton (Mass.) placed third (41.50).

Lauren Coleman threw a school record 14.48-meters (47'6.25") in shot put to finish second in the event. She improved on her previous school record performance of 46'1.50", set at the 49er Classic earlier this season.

How it Happened (Field Events)
- Skyler Duncan won the javelin throw with a personal-best distance of 41.98m (137'9"). That ranks fourth all-time on the program's top 10 list. Kaeshelle Ford recorded a mark of 32.66m (107'2") to finish ninth.
- Ksenia Safonova won the hammer throw with a mark of 59.63m (195'8"). That is a Towson University facility record and just shy of matching her school record distance (61.78m/202'8"). Lauren Coleman followed in second-place (48.12m/157'10"). Taylor Giles placed fifth with a personal-best distance of 45.90m (150'7"), which ranks seventh on the program's all-time list.
- Naja McAdam tied for second in the high jump with a height of 1.55m (5'1").
- In the pole vault, Towson took second and third. Brynn Warrington was the runner-up (3.55m/11'7.75") while Sarah Bourdon finished third (3.40m/11'1.75").
- Lauren Coleman placed second in the shot put with a school record mark of 14.48m (47'6.25"). Ksenia Safonova recorded a personal-best to finish third (13.24m/43'5.25") and Taylor Weiss placed 12th also with a personal-best distance (11.68m/38'4"). Safonova's distance ranks fourth on the program's all-time list.
- Taylor Weiss was the runner-up in discus with a throw of 41.63m (136'7"). Naomi Roth finished 17th (30.53m/100'2").

- The Tigers' 4x100m relay team of Liz Reid, Jamila Brown, Jaina McLean and Zanae Freeland won the event with a school record time of 45.87. The previous school record was 46.15, set earlier this season. The 'B' relay team of Helnsarah Penda, Natalia Pinkney, Arianna Waller and Rachel Laryea finished fourth (48.01).
- Megan Knoblock won the 1,500m run with a time of 4:44.68. Abby Gauthier followed in second with a personal-best 4:46.08. Shelby Bobbie finished fifth (4:53.17) and Colleen Cook placed seventh with a personal-best 4:57.76. Ā
- Megan Kelly won the 400m dash with a school record time of 54.25. The previous record was 55.39, set by Jill Meshey in 2007. Alexis Goodman placed 19th (1:01.43).
- In the 100m hurdles finals, Helnsarah Penda finished third with a personal-best time of 14.80.
- Towson took the top two spots in the 100m dash fiinals. Zanae Freeland won the event in 12.05, followed by Jamila Brown (12.10). Jaina McLean also competed in the event finals, placing fourth (12.49).
- In the 800m run, Shelby Bobbie finished 13th (2:26.06) and Allyson Figalora came in 14th (2:26.70, personal-best). Melissa Graham timed a personal-best 2:34.87 to place 21st.
- Mariah Howard finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:03.20.
- Towson swept the top three spots in the 200m dash. Jamila Brown won in 24.44, followed by Zanae Freeland (24.56) and Megan Kelly (24.85). Liz Reid timed 25.52 to place sixth, while Jaina McLean placed seventh (25.67) and Arianna Waller in ninth (25.81).
- Nicki Iacaruso was the runner-up in the 5,000m run with a time of 19:19 .67. Jenna Donohue timed 21:29.91 to place fourth.
- The Tigers' 4x400m relay team of Zanae Freeland, Liz Reid, Jamila Brown and Megan Kelly won the event with a school record 3:44.38. The previous school record was 3:44.86, set earlier this season by Kelly, Reid, Brown and Kaitlyn Davis. Towson's 'B' relay of Arianna Waller, Jaina McLean, Mariah Howard and Alexis Goodman took third (3:55.68).
