TOWSON, Md. – After ripping off its third-straight win on Saturday, the Towson University men's lacrosse team moved up in all three national polls this week.
The Nike/USILA Division I Coaches' Poll slotted the Tigers (7-3, 3-0 CAA) in at No. 15, a one-spot jump this week. Towson picked up 98 points this week and was the second-highest ranked member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) behind No. 7 Hofstra's 207 points. Syracuse was the number one team this week with 320 points and all 16 first place votes. Maryland ranked second with 297 points and Denver, which Towson played on March 25, was third with 281 points. Fellow CAA member Drexel received at least one vote after knocking off Hofstra 13-12 on Saturday.
In this week's Maverik/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, Towson moved up one spot to the No. 15 hole, collecting 233 points in the Week 10 voting. Towson was the second-highest ranked team in the CAA, just five spots back from No. 10 Hofstra (10-1, 2-1 CAA) and its 380 points. Syracuse held the top spot for a second week in a row behind 692 points and 28 first-place votes, followed by Maryland's 662 points and six first-place nods. Towson opponent Denver was ranked third with 620 points while Duke had the final first place vote and 591 points for the No. 4 ranking.
The Tigers moved up two spots in this week's Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Division I Top 20, jumping to the No. 11 slot. Hofstra was just one spot ahead of Towson in the Top 20 this week. The top three teams in the Top 20 were the same as the media, topped by Syracuse, Maryland and Denver.
