 A Historic Holland Windmill |
After a slow morning/start, we finally got ourselves together and left Amsterdam. We got on a bus to take us to the south of Holland and stopped to see some windmills. They were “very Dutch” as our tour guide Cori told us. We also got to see how they make wooden shoes and cheese.
When we finished sampling the cheese and buying souvenirs, we headed back to the bus for our two-hour ride south. The bus ride consisted of talk from the night before (our romp around Amsterdam) and we decided that the Dutch boys could not handle us American girls :) .
After our bus ride, we went to Hockey Club Kerkrade and had a short practice to get our legs going. Then it was time to get back on the bus and head to our next “home” for the rest of the trip.
When we first arrived at the Rolduc Monastery, we didn’t know what to expect. There are beautiful buildings and gardens everywhere – it reminds me of Captain Von Trap’s house in The Sound of Music. However, our rooms are smaller than the dorms in Prettyman and have no TV, radio, phone or alarm clock! Furthermore, we have to use a “public” bathroom – this could get interesting! Yet, on the other side, we hear the rooms are “hooked up” with all the normal hotel stuff!
If we can make it one night here, I’m sure we can last a few more!
