Towson Athletics and the Tiger Women's Basketball program is proud to announce its participation in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's “Think Pink” initiative to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. More than 600 schools nation-wide are participating in the initiative this season.

The event will take place on Sunday, February 17 when the Tigers take on Colonial Athletics Association powerhouse Old Dominion in women’s basketball. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the Towson Center Arena at Towson University. Proceeds raised at Towson’s event will go to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, the world's largest, boldest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists fighting to cure breast cancer at every stage.

In addition to collecting donations in person at the event on February 17, Towson is contributing $1 from every ticket purchased to the Komen foundation. “It’s important for the community to understand that 75% of donations to Komen Maryland stay in Maryland to fund 20 grants across the state,” stated Adam Van Bavel, the Special Events Coordinator for the Maryland affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. “We are very pleased to partner with Towson University on this special event.”

Adult general admission tickets are just $5 and tickets for kids 17 and under are only $3.

As a special treat to fans in attendance at the Towson-ODU game on Feb. 17, pink breast cancer awareness ribbons will be given away at the door. Breast cancer survivors will be saluted during the game at a halftime ceremony. The Towson team will wear special warm-ups, and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.

In addition, the Towson Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams and coaches will host a free instructional clinic for kids in grades K-8 beginning at 11 a.m. in the Towson Center.
