NCAA® DIVISION I WOMEN’S LACROSSE
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

For the first time in Towson University history, an NCAA championship will be held on campus when the 2008 NCAA® Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship takes place at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium on May 23 and 25. It will mark the fourth time that Towson has serviced as host for a Division I lacrosse championship. Towson served as co-host of the 2003, 2004, and 2007 NCAA® men’s lacrosse championships at M&T Bank Stadium along with Loyola College (Md.), Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
“It’s a great honor for Towson University to serve as the host of the 2008 and 2009 women’s lacrosse national championships,” Towson Director of Athletics Mike Hermann said. “I know that Unitas Stadium will provide an excellent venue and I’m confident that the Towson and Baltimore community will roll out the red carpet to ensure an outstanding experience for the participating student-athletes through both hospitality and event attendance.”
This will mark the tenth time in NCAA® women’s lacrosse history that the Division I Championship has been in the State of Maryland. Most recently, the United State Naval Academy hosted the event in 2005. Championships have also been hosted by University of Maryland, College Park(1986, 1987, 1993, 1994); University of Maryland, Baltimore County(1998), Johns Hopkins University (1999 and 2001), and Loyola College (2002).
This is an opportunity to see the best collegiate teams in women’s lacrosse battle for the National Championship. You can be a part of the action by purchasing tickets for the games to be played on Friday, May 23 and Sunday, May 25 at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.
