On September 25, Towson Athletics hosted the department's second annual Student-Athlete Networking Night. The event connected 22 Towson University alumni athletes serving as mentors with 85 current student-athletes. Students were asked to identify ten mentors they were most interested in learning more about and then had the opportunity to network in five-minute blocks of time in a "speed dating" format. Athletes within Cohort 4 of the Total Tiger Program attended this event to gain valuable knowledge as they look towards life after Towson.
The Total Tiger Program provides each student-athlete with a four-year comprehensive development program centered around personal growth, career development, and community engagement. Within the overall Student-Athlete Development Program, TTP opportunities aim to nurture holistic growth by focusing on programs to equip student-athletes with vital skills for successful careers beyond their time at Towson University.
The alumni mentors in attendance featured graduates spanning from 1971 to as recent as 2020 bringing with them a wide breadth of experience and job sector. Four of the mentors, including Jamie Peterson '95, Lauren Hoskins '98, Matt Death '06 and Casey Cegles '09, all work in the athletics department of their alma mater.
"It was an incredible opportunity to give back and help guide the next generation of Towson student-athletes. Events like this are so important because they provide real-world insights and connections that can truly shape their future beyond Towson." - Lauren Hoskins '98
Towson Athletics will continue to find creative avenues to connect alumni with our current student-athletes, preparing them for life after their degree. If you are a Towson graduate and are interested in future mentorship opportunities, please reach out to the Tiger Athletic Fund office at

We thank our alumni athletes for their valuable time and mentorship. "Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!"
